Happy Halloween!!!!

Investigators in church!?!?!?!?!

YUP! We had 2 youngins, Agustin and Bruno, and a MARRIED COUPLE (yeah, I know, a miracle) Enrique and Sandra come to church.  I have never been so happy in my life!  Finally, things are coming together!  I'm a little upset because we can't baptize anyone next week due to Stake Conference.  I'm just worried as It just gives Satan more time to tempt and work on our people!  Just doing our best to pray and work hard with obedience.  We'll see if they can withstand the "Fiery Darts!"

We've been working like animals, butt we need to be more obedient about coming home on time to our pension.  We get so involved in finding and teaching that we arrive at the pension late a lot haha.  Yeah we're working on it.

We continue to find huge families to teach which is the best!  Almost all of them don't attend any church!  Catholics make the best mormons right!?!? (shout out to both my Grandmas).  Elder Napoleao and I work incredibly well together.  Transfers are coming up and I'm pleading that we can stay here together.  Si Dios quiere.....

I was reading in Doctrine and Covenants this morning and there was a scripture that hit me found in D&C 117:13
13...and when he falls he shalrise again, for his sacrifice shall be more sacred unto me than his increase, saith the Lord

Sacrifice!  It's the only way that we can move forward.  When we make a sacrifice in our life, it shows God that we are ready to make a CHANGE...

  • If I sacrifice personal time to read the scriptures, I invite God into my life
  • If I sacrifice coca cola, bread & mate, maybe I won't be so chubby on my mission (that's a hard one haha ðŸ˜‰)

Take time to think of what you can sacrifice for the Lord and He will help you make a change.

I love you all.  Be safe, especially on Halloween!  Parents should check their kids candy to make sure there aren't any razor blades (yeah, people are dumb)

I know this church is true.  God has restored His church with apostles and prophets.  We just need to listen to them and do what they tell us if we want to achieve success and happiness in this life.

Love,
Elder Trent James Pomar Ott

Enjoy the pics haha ðŸ•·ðŸ”¥ðŸŽƒ

Shout out to Elder Lervold & Elder Clark!!!

Agua agua agua agua...
I've never had so many investigators in my entire mission.  I've never invited so many people to be baptized.  I've never had so many people have a desire to change...BIG CHANGES ARE COMING BABY!!!

We've been slaving and finally will begin to see some fruits for our labor.  This Sunday we are estimating at least 6 people at church!  No one came to church last Sunday because it was elections for the government and everyone is forced to vote. Yay!
The branch continues to grow as we are reactivating people like crazy.  I love this place! (and at one time I use to hate it!)

Nothing crazy to say, but now the people are starting to open their doors to us and invite us in.  Elder Napoleao and I have really good chemistry and connect with the people like crazy. :)

I know this church is true.  I love being a missionary.  I love being the Lord's servant.

Next week is halloween, so I'll be like every other missionary, swapping name tags with their companion hahaha

Sorry for not sharing too many photos this week.  I don't carry my camera around too often because I don't want it to get stolen!  At least the people don't think we are gringos haha

Love,
Elder Pomar

Necesitamos Pura Agua!!!!

Well, we continue to teach like maniacs and we keep finding HUGE families to teach!  So right now we have a ton of people progressing, but no one could come to church this past Sunday because it was Mother's day (only in argentina).  It's frustrating here during holidays because the people can be so lazy sometimes haha.  Thankfully, it's a normal week coming up so we should have more people attending church (ONLY 10 people attended).  Just because it's Mother's day, it doesn't mean it's a day off from church haha.  Aside from that, we are excited that we just continue to find a bunch of new investigators that we are helping and hope they will come unto Christ.

Oh....funny story...

As it was Mother's day this past Sunday and we had no idea where to go (it was the siesta so no one was awake).  So we run into a part member family and we began to talk with the oldest daughter.  She was really sweet and we exchanged beliefs (she's super evangelista).  The second we pulled out the Book of Mormon, she turned cold and said "that book's from the devil!  Angel moroni was Lucifer!"  Remaining calm, I proceeded to say "so you're saying that eternal families, Jesus Christ being our Savior, and having modern day prophets to guide us is from the devil?"  She went really quiet and said that she had to get going.  Sad that she doesn't want anything to do with this amazing book, but I have come to learn that we can't force it on anyone, ONLY invite others to learn from it.

I know this church is true and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God.  I love reading it as it shows us that God truly loves all His children.
Love you all!  Read the scriptures and you'll see that following Christ is the safest path we can take.

Love,
Elder Pomar

Miracles in my old area pt 2....and in our area too!

Soooooo.....

Maria's daughter Kiara got baptized and I got to baptize her!!! :)  It was a really sweet ceremony and very spiritual!  The water was cold but at least it only took two tries to baptize her haha (hair floated)

It's started getting warm with 105 degrees Wednesday.  It's nice though cause everyone here is really kind and offers you water. Great way to contact!  So we've been working like animals here in Antartida (our area) and finally we are seeing the fruits of our labor.  We are teaching 3 families that are HUGE!  We committed many to baptism in a couple of weeks, just gotta get them to church so they can receive their answer.

As President Dieter F. Utchdorf has said..."Endure to the end....or 4th floor last door".  So after the baptism, we chose to follow that counsel.  We could have just gone home to the pension 30 minutes early to catch up on filling out papers, but we decided to visit a family that we contacted in the street.  We got a little lost, and God led us to a family on the top floor of an apartment complex. They are incredible!  After talking with them we found the other family that we were looking for, and they are awesome too!  They already talked with the missionaries in Cordoba 6 years ago, but now they have (2) 8 year old daughters who wanna be baptized! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!

So what is the lesson?  The "endure to the end principle" applies to EVERYTHING with life!

I am so grateful for this gospel.  I know its true.  I love you all soooo much.  I have so much support from you all with your prayers and letters.  Please pray that these families will receive an answer for baptism:  Families Olmos, Fernandez, Corzo

Love,
Elder Pomar (con ðŸ”¥)

PS. The Zone Leaders found this picture of Caleb and I from the 2008 Ensign General Conference.  We're famous!

Yep, EMERGENCY TRANSFER HAHAHA!

Elder Bray, my companion, jumped up as Zone Leader and......I GOT A NEGAO AS MY COMP!!!! (BRAZILIAN!)  His name is Elder Napoleao and he's way awesome!  I just met him today, but were from the same group so we both have a lot of fire to do the work of the Lord :)
Even though we're from the same missionary group, technically, I'm "senior companion" because I have 3 more week in the MTC than him ;)  I was really sad saying goodbye to Elder Bray, but ready for my 6th companion in 6 transfers in my 4th area. I guess God prepared me for this with all the times I have moved in my life before haha!

Right now we have a lot of new people we are teaching, but we need to see if they will progress or if they just like to chat (aka everyone in La Rioja haha).  Not too many highlights this week.  We just found a lot of new people to teach and had a ton of appointments falling though.

The obvious highlight is General Conference. The biggest thing I took out of it was...

  • The importance of having an unshakeable testimony of the divinity of the Book of Mormon
  • The importance of looking to be a instrument in the hands of the Lord to bless others

Here in my area, it's very hard as it's very religious.  We seem to find two types of people: super religious evangelist/catholic, or super lazy and don't want to change

God has "His Chosen Ones," we just need to keep searching and work with the people we have now while praying in faith and obedience for finding more people and new opportunities.

I was sad when I heard the news about Elder Robert D Hales dying.  He was an amazing Apostle of the Lord and he's definitely living in peace on the other side of the veil with his loved ones who also have passed on.

That's it!  I love this gospel, the Book of Mormon is the word of God and I love how I feel when I pray :)

Love you guys!
Elder Pomar
